Every journey is different. From enrollment through matching, screening, legal agreements, embryo transfer, pregnancy, and postpartum support, the complete process may take approximately 15 to 24 months. Timing depends on surrogate availability, clinic requirements, legal preparation, transfer outcomes, and individual circumstances.

Surrogates complete an application and initial interview, provide relevant pregnancy and medical history, and participate in a preliminary records review coordinated by BTJ. Background checks and other preliminary requirements may also be completed. Formal medical and psychological screening is conducted independently by the fertility clinic and licensed professionals.

In addition to BTJ’s $18,000 agency fee, intended parents should plan for surrogate compensation and benefits, fertility clinic expenses, medical and psychological screening, independent attorneys, insurance review and coverage, escrow services, travel, and other journey related expenses. Actual costs vary by surrogate, clinic, insurance needs, location, and individual circumstances. A personalized estimate will be reviewed before you move forward.

BTJ considers communication preferences, values, expectations, lifestyle, location, journey goals, and other important compatibility factors. Intended parents and prospective surrogates review information, meet, ask questions, and decide mutually, whether the match feels right. Neither party is required to proceed with a proposed match.

You will have a consistent BTJ point of contact throughout the journey. Support may include profile preparation, matching coordination, communication guidance, appointment and milestone check-ins, coordination with independent professionals, expense and benefit guidance, birth planning and postpartum transition support.
